One of the lesser known Bernoullis was Johann(II). He was the third son of Johann(I) and brother to Nicolaus(III) and Daniel(I).
He studied law for part of his professional life, but soon the draw that mathematics had on his family took over and he started studying mathematics full time.
He was appointed to a chair at the Basel University and his main areas of study were:
Long life seemed to be a habit for this family and Johann(II) was no exception. He was 80 years old when he died.
