07118: Communication: Rhetoric and Reasoning L
Introduction to this site
Welcome to the Communication: Rhetoric and Reasoning World Wide Web site
From 1998, Communication: Rhetoric and Reasoning (CR&R) can be taken in semester 2
as an external subject. In semester 1 of each year it will be offered as an internal
subject only.
The study materials and subject information for CR&R are available here for you to
access and use as the Study guide for taking the subject in the external mode.
PLEASE NOTE
- The information presented on this site is directed at external students only. All
dates, deadlines and assignment details apply to external students taking the subject in
semester 2.
- To use this site as an external student, you must already have enrolled in CR&R
specifically in the external mode for semester 2.
- If you are an internal student accessing this site, please feel free to use it to help
you further in your research and reading in the subject, but DO NOT follow the fortnightly
schedule or any of the dates, deadlines or assignment details presented on this site.
- Internal students must follow the printed semester 1 Study guide and the
directives of your class tutor.
How to use this site
You will see that all the pages on this site are divided into two frames: a narrow
frame down the left-hand side containing electronic 'hotlinks' which connect you to other
pages and relevant sites, and a larger frame on the right-hand side which contains the
main text of the site.
When you click a link in the left-hand frame, you move to a new part of the site or to
another site altogether. The text in the right-hand frame changes accordingly, while the
left-hand frame does not change. Whenever you want to go to another part of the site, or
to another linked site, shift your cursor to the left-hand frame and click the appropriate
link. Most of the time, you will want to return to the 'Study guide home
page' link at the bottom of the left-hand frame, in order to go to various parts of the Study
guide.
You will also find various links within the Study guide itself; these
will connect you to the fortnightly study schedule and other pieces of information to help
you work through the subject.
Now that you have read this introduction, go back to the Study guide home
page (the link is in the left-hand frame), and experiment with 'navigating' the site and
the other links until you become used to the structure of the site. Even if you have never
used the Web before, you will soon become very accustomed to the way it works.
Happy hunting, and good luck with your study of Communication: Rhetoric and Reasoning!
